Using handmade, antique, reclaimed, and salvaged fixtures and furnishings, down to the very last detail, creating a warm and welcoming ambience.

Enjoy good food and conversation at the table in the well-equipped vintage galley kitchen or settle down before the inviting log/smokeless fuel burning stove in leather library chairs and sofa and choose from the varied selection of books that line the walls. Or watch the large TV complete with Amazon Firestick. Upstairs the ‘Granny Chic’ style continues with two irresistible bedrooms with comfortable (one king and one double) beds, antique linens and furnishings, the owner has thoughtfully provided USB sockets by the beds and electric blankets to totally snuggle up in the winter months, or ease the over zealous sportsman’s aches.

Stepping out in Richmond there are an abundance of activities to entertain in this historic market town. For the outdoor enthusiast whatever their passion, be it walking, cycling, exploring, fishing, riding or golfing, there’s also a swimming pool, something for everyone. (Be sure to book restaurants and activities in advance of your stay). The Norman Castle dominates the skyline, from which the enchanting higgledy rooftops and Culloden Tower may be viewed, with riverside walks to enjoy, a popular route taking you past the renovated Victorian Station (where you can also go to the cinema during your stay) and along to Easby Abbey. The cobbled streets are a joy to amble around, visiting an eclectic mix of independent shops, galleries, and traditional tearooms, with the Georgian marketplace at the heart of the town.

Eating out is a pleasure at a variety of high-quality restaurants available nearby. The Georgian theatre is the oldest in existence and just five minutes’ walk from the cottage, and hosts a busy repertoire of plays, comedy nights and musical evenings. Richmond, being the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is ever popular with walkers and cyclists and the perfect base in which to stay with picture postcard villages and rugged landscapes to explore.
