Applewood is a pretty one bedroom cottage situated in the village of Harome within walking distance of the Michelin starred Star Inn and nestled between the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This pretty, single story stable conversion comprises of a spacious open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room and bedroom with en-suite shower room. Multiple skylights fill the cottage with sunlight during the day and when the night draws in, guests can get cosy around the sitting room's multi-fuel burning stove. One of Applewood's best features has to be its beautiful garden with pergola and garden furniture which is the perfect place to relax in on a summer's evening.
Applewood is situated in the village of Harome, which is nestled between the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Harome is only two miles from the market town of Helmsley, which boasts a wide selection of independent shops, bakeries and cafes, as well as a medieval castle and an arts centre. The area is popular with walkers, history enthusiasts and food lovers. Harome itself is the home of the Michelin Star awarded Star Inn as well as the equally renowned Pheasant Hotel, both of which are a short walk from the cottage and serve superb food and drinks. Both restaurants are very popular and require booking well in advance. The Pheasant will provide breakfast for non-residents if required, although booking is advisable. Secure 2 bike store available. If required please notify at time of booking.

A great cottage in a good location to explore the Howardian Hills (Castle Howard) and the southern valleys of the Yorkshire Moors. Very Covid secure too. Cosy and well equipped, and the welcome hamper was generous. The outside seating area is a bonus, although a little chilly to use during our stay. Harome is blessed with 2 great restaurants. The Star Inn is well known for its Michelin star and gastropub accolades but don’t overlook the The Pheasant. The food is just as good. We actually preferred The Pheasant. Helmsley is 5 minutes away for provisions, more restaurants and takeaway. Other than a trip to Whitby we spent the rest of our week at Applewood going no more than 10 miles in any direction and found plenty to see and do. A highly recommended property.

What a delightful cottage! We had a lovely stay in this very cosy and comfortable cottage which is very well equipped to a high standard. Thanks also to Phillip and Ann for such a warm welcome. The two village pubs are within walking distance and well worth a visit and we enjoyed walking in the beautiful countryside - the location is ideal.
