Guests say

Guests consistently praise The Old Cart House for its stunning location, spaciousness, and proximity to wildlife and farm animals. The property is celebrated for its cleanliness, comfort, and the warm welcome provided by the owners. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the moors and nearby villages, with many guests expressing a strong desire to return.

Reviews frequently commend the property for its spotless condition upon arrival, with only minor mentions of cobwebs which are understandable given the rural, farm setting.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, peacefulness, and proximity to local attractions and walks, making it an ideal retreat for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility.

The property is described as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with ample space for large groups. A few comments suggest that some mattresses could be improved, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and ample living space. Some guests noted the need for sharper knives and a larger fridge, indicating room for improvement in maintenance.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches such as a welcome bottle of wine and other treats. While these gestures are warmly received, it is politely noted that such gifts are offered at the owners' discretion and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

They are a lovely couple the husband was a character a funny man with a great personality. When we we entered the property it was very warm and cosy. The bedrooms are also cosy and well decorated with plenty of storage the kitchen and living room are unbelievable. This was my favourite part of the house where at night me and my family would enjoy a meal at the extra large table and the settle down in front of the open fire. The views are breath-taking I never write reviews and I've been in a lot of accommodations but I had to for this property Me and my family will defiantly be back

Obviously a bit off the beaten track, but that is what we love. Owners could not be more friendly or helpful, there if you need them. We will be back yet again!!!!! Thank you.

There were one or two tiny improvements that could be made, which I will touch on later, but none of them detracted from this cottage receiving five stars. Location: Stunning. That's the only word I can use to describe the surroundings, from the rolling hillsides opposite the cottage, to the hedges and fields behind. The cottage is on a working farm and therefore isolated, but this was ideal for us as it's what we wanted. Cottage: Amazing. You're greeted by a large seating area, with flagstone floors and a grandfather clock slowly ticking away in the corner. Go up a couple of steps in you enter the main living area which comprises a large open plan kitchen, dining and living room space. The kitchen has plenty of cupboards, a dishwasher, a washing machine, etc. The dining table can seat ten or more people, and the living room area has ample seating for everyone. There is a bedroom on the ground floor with a double bed. There is also a bathroom downstairs next to the bedroom which has a shower, toilet and sink. There are three bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom is accessed via the stairs between the entrance room and the main living area. This a large and very roomy bedroom. There is another set of stairs leading up from the entrance room that leads to two further bedrooms, one which has two single beds and a cot. We were also welcomes with a bottle of prosecco, some milk and some bread. The niggly bits I spoke about earlier, which didn't detract from our stay, are as follows. 1) No logs or kindling for the open fire in the living room. 2) The orange gas lighter didn't work, I believe it needed gas adding to it. 3) The batteries in the remote control seemed to be failing as the TV was hard to work, but there were no fresh batteries anywhere. In the downstairs bedroom there is a TV, but the remote control only had a single battery in it rather than two. In the kitchen, it would have helped if there were some basic grocery items available, such as tea, coffee, condiments, cooking oil, etc. These are only minor things but would have enhanced our stay. That said, I'm more than happy to give the cottage five stars and would definitely recommend it to others.
