Head under the archway and into the dining room to enjoy a delicious meal together, with a full feast cooked up in the fully equipped kitchen next door. Once you are fully relaxed after a day of adventure, head upstairs to find three bedrooms; the master suite boasts a super-king-size bed and adjoining en-suite, while the king-size double and twin are served by the family bathroom. Spend a sun-filled afternoon in the enclosed rear garden with a chilled drink in hand and ooze in the coastal atmosphere.

Find a plethora of pubs, shops and restaurants within walking distance in the town centre, along with the Captain Cook Memorial Museum and the Dracula Experience for any Bram Stoker fans visiting the region. Climb the famous 199 steps to the historic abbey, enjoying wonderful coastal views from the top and spend a day at the beach, enjoying fish and chips or a traditional donkey ride across the sand for the little one. Stroll along the harbour, hop on a boat and go whale watching, or walk along the pier to the lighthouse for a picturesque sunset. Robin Hood's Bay is just six miles away; a wide sweeping bay backed by spectacular cliffs and dramatic moorland scenery, walkers can relish in beach and cliff-top walks, while notable attractions include the National Trust-owned Old Coastguard Station, and the museum.

Further afield is the Victorian seaside town of Scarborough, which boasts two wonderful, family-friendly, sandy beaches, a golf course, excellent walking and cycling trails, plus attractions like Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. This charming cottage makes the perfect return after your many adventures in this fascinating part of Yorkshire.

Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. It is an atmospheric town with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps. You also have Robin Hood's Bay close by and the beach town of Scarborough, as well as being situated on the fringes of the North York Moors National Park.
