Mallard Cottage in Whitby is highly praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities and the property's proximity to local attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and the firmness of mattresses were noted, the overall experience is very positive, with many guests planning to return.
Reviews consistently mention the property being clean and well-maintained. The housekeeper is commended for their work, contributing to a high cleanliness score.
The location is frequently described as great, with easy access to Whitby and surrounding attractions. The proximity to a school and the hill's steepness are noted, but do not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback on location.
Comfort is generally rated highly, with mentions of a cosy atmosphere and well-equipped rooms. Some guests found the beds hard and the boiler noise bothersome, slightly lowering the comfort score.
Facilities are well-regarded, with high-end appliances and a well-equipped kitchen. Minor suggestions for improvements, such as a fixed shower and better tin opener, are made, but overall the facilities meet guests' needs.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to score this category.

Whitby in North Yorkshire remains one of the regions most popular tourist hotspots, and with good reason. The town is at the mouth of the River Esk, and this old fishing port retains mush character in its winding streets and hidden alleys. There is a picturesque harbour, sandy beach and the famous Whitby Abbey. Close to other seaside destinations such as Scarborough, Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby is also ideally placed for heading inland and exploring the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors National Park.

16 minute walk to the harbour, although there is a big hill to walk back up, so not ideal for anyone who struggles to walk. The accommodation was spotless and has a lovely little garden and parking for two small cars. We loved the beams, the mezzanine bedroom in the property and the log burner, although we only used it once, as the central heating made the property really toasty. I would definitely recommend this property to my family/friends and would also book again x

Would like to return in the future . No issues with the school nextdoor, noise or traffic.

Conveniently located on the edge of Whitby but close enough for walking into the town through several different directions. It is also very close to the Cinder Track cycle/walking path which goes all the way to Scarborough. Although the cottage is adjacent to a secondary school this caused us no problems whatsoever and following the hosts directions on arrival we drove straight to the property without any problem.
