The Station House in Whitby receives high praise for its character, comfort, and prime location with easy access to local amenities and Whitby. Guests enjoy the unique experience of watching trains from the property, the warmth of the log burner, and the charm of the Aga. The welcoming touches, such as freshly baked bread, add to the delightful stay. While some minor issues are mentioned, the overall sentiment is extremely positive, with many guests eager to return.
Guests consistently describe the property as spotless and clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. There is no mention of any significant cleanliness issues, suggesting that guests are very satisfied with the state of the property upon arrival.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to Whitby, accessibility to trains and buses, and the added charm of steam trains passing by. The convenience of a nearby pub and butchers adds to the appeal. The location is deemed perfect for exploring the surrounding areas.
Comfort is frequently highlighted, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the house warm and cosy. Multiple lounges and relaxation spaces are appreciated. However, some guests mention limited headroom in top floor rooms and the need for stair gates, slightly affecting the score.
The property is well-equipped with a kitchen, games, and internet, and guests enjoy the Aga and log burner. However, there are comments about the need for garden TLC, issues with patio doors, and a barbecue not being clean. These maintenance points slightly lower the score.
The thoughtfulness of the owners is evident through the welcome of freshly baked bread and cakes, though it is politely noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay. The attention to detail in the property's presentation contributes to the positive experience.

It was delight from start to the end of our stay. All the memorabilia and the lovely clocks. We booked it for my Husband's 60th Birthday as he loves trains as his use to work on them. He loved it and the surprise of his family being there too. A big Thank you to Pippa and Graham for the homemade cakes especially the lemon drizzle. Thank you again from the Vickers and Lambert family in Doncaster

Although it was very cold outside, it was beautifully warm inside , lots of seating areas, comfy beds, loads of hot water. We all fell in love with the Aga in the kitchen and enjoyed using it for cooking, first timers and successful. Nice pub just opposite and excellent butchers in the village. It was lovely seeing the trains on the station, the children particularly liked joining in the chorus of âtrainâ whenever one went through. Thereâs several footpaths that take you into Whitby, about a 20 minute walk. Would happily recommend and use again.

The weather was a real mix, rain and snow but the house was a warm base to return to. Lots of room for all of us. We would have loved stair gates as we had 3 year old twins with us. The pub and butchers are well worth a visit.
