Rockton House is an impressive, mid-terrace Victorian house resting in the popular seaside town of Whitby, North Yorkshire. Set over three floors, the house is an excellent accommodation for families to enjoy the many attractions this historic port has to offer. With a modern interior, but retaining some original features, Rockton House offers a light and spacious sitting room with dark wood floor and a bay window with wood panelling; switch on the electric fire for added comfort, choose from a selection of DVDs, games, or scroll through Netflix, before curling up on the corner sofa for the evening. The flagged hallway leads to a galley-style kitchen, fully-equipped for your self-catering needs, with a separate dining room offering a feature fireplace, high ceilings and a dining table for six guests, the perfect setting for planning your day over breakfast. Three tasteful bedrooms serve six guests at Rockton House with plenty of storage space to make yourself right at home; one double room rests upstairs, whilst a further double and a twin can be found on the second floor, with slanted ceilings and Velux windows. Step into the smart, contemporary bathroom for an energising shower to start your day, or make use of the lovely, free standing bath after a long day's hike. At the back of the house, there is an enclosed yard with outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine after dinner or take your morning coffee for some peace and quiet. If you fancy heading out, the heart of Whitby is a short journey away, with quaint cobbled streets, a picturesque harbour and sandy beaches for lazy days in the sun. There are also numerous restaurants and tearooms to sample a variety of cuisines, before heading to historical sites such as the gothic Whitby Abbey ruins, or climbing the 199 Steps for fantastic views; there is something for everyone in Whitby. Robin Hood's Bay is a small, scenic fishing village well-worth a visit, with a small museum, the picture-perfect Old Coastguard Station, and plenty of independent shops and eateries to discover along its winding streets. For a busier town with plenty of cultural, historical and outdoor pursuits, head further south to Scarborough, home to Scarborough South Cliff Golf Club, the medieval Scarborough Castle looming over the coastline, or pack your towels and head to the town's beaches for a picnic. Pickering rests on the doorstep to the North Yorkshire Moors and is the perfect base before you head off for long walks through picturesque landscapes; fuel up in one of the cafés or pubs, visit the picturesque Church of St Peter and St Paul, before jumping on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway that cuts right through dramatic scenery for the best views.
