Guests say

Guests consistently praise the Rose and Crown Yard for its spotless condition, comfortable furnishings, and excellent location in the heart of Whitby. The cottage's charm, quiet atmosphere despite central location, and views of the Abbey from the kitchen are frequently mentioned. The hosts are commended for their communication and welcoming touches, although the steep stairs and low beams may pose challenges for some.

Reviewers repeatedly mention the cottage's spotless and well-presented state, indicating a very high level of cleanliness throughout the property.

The central location is highly appreciated for its convenience to shops, restaurants, and local attractions, with the added bonus of being quiet. Parking is noted as tricky by some, but manageable.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a particularly comfortable bed mentioned. However, some guests noted the stairs as steep and the attic room's low beams as a minor inconvenience.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and cosy decor. A few guests mentioned a shortage of cooking dishes and issues with the boiler, which slightly affected the score.

Many guests were delighted by the thoughtful touches, such as welcome baskets and treats for both humans and pets. While these gestures are warmly received, it is politely noted that such extras are subject to change and not guaranteed.

Beautiful cottage nicely done out. Lovely view from Kitchen of the Abbey. Everything was in the cottage we needed. Nice Bathroom and cosy attic bedroom. Beds nice and comfy. Just beware in the attic there is a long beam running across the floor so you have to step over this to get onto the bed. The cottage is right in the centre just alongside Sherlocks cafe which does great coffee and scones. We loved our stay here and will return. We would come lighter I e. Small suitcase and buy food in Whitby then if you cannot manage to get a parking spot on flower gate you don't have far to walk with your luggage etc. We parked on Spring Vale about a good 15 min walk which was fine. Thanks to Denise her communication was excellent 👍. We would definitely go back. This cottage is a little gem.
