Rose and Crown Yard cottage in Whitby receives glowing praise for its charming decor, central yet peaceful location, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests consistently highlight the property’s cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. The owners are frequently commended for their excellent communication and thoughtful touches. While a few guests mention minor issues such as parking, seagull noise, and steep stairs, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return and recommend the cottage to others.
Cleanliness is repeatedly praised, with guests describing the cottage as spotless, immaculate, and very well maintained. Only one review mentions a minor issue with artificial room fresheners, but this does not detract from the overall high standard.
The location is universally celebrated for being central, close to all amenities, yet surprisingly quiet. Guests appreciate the proximity to shops, restaurants, and attractions, as well as the peacefulness once inside the cottage.
Guests find the cottage extremely comfortable, with cosy beds and a homely feel. A few mention the attic bedroom’s low ceiling and a bed being a bit short for taller guests, but these are minor compared to the overall comfort experienced.
Facilities are described as excellent and well-equipped, with everything needed for a pleasant stay. Minor issues include a shortage of cooking dishes, a boiler needing topping up, and a request for more toilet rolls, but these are exceptions rather than the rule.
Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, treats for both humans and dogs, and excellent communication from the owners. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We have stayed at the cottage before and we really could not wait to visit again. The cottage is absolutely stunning and has a really homely atmosphere. Perfectly clean throughout and the decor is really apt for the location of the cottage. Although the cottage is located right in the centre of the town, you would not know that you are in the heart of Whitby, as the cottage is located at the very end of a quaint alleyway. Although there is no parking at the cottage, we highly recommend Springvale as a very close and convenient place to park a car which is also free.....!We would highly recommend this as a beautiful place to stay and enjoy a relaxing break in Whitby.

A super conveniently located cottage. Sensitively decorated and well equipped we enjoyed our stay in Whitby. The resident seagulls are a bit noisy at night though!
