The little North York Moors village of Ruswarp is just two miles inland from Whitby on the boundary of the National Park. It has a general store, public house and tearoom. There is an impressive viaduct crossing the River Esk, which is one of the region's major landmarks. Over five million bricks were used to build the viaduct, it is 120 feet high and was built to carry the Scarborough to Whitby railway line. The line was closed in 1965 and now the viaduct is a walking and cycle trail. Visitors can enjoy river and sea fishing or spend time boating on the river. As well as the famous North York Steam Railway, train enthusiasts can also enjoy a trip on Ruswarp's miniature steam railway. This village is in a superb location for a memorable holiday.

Loved the spiral staircase, comfortable bed, efficient and easy to use shower. Good seating downstairs and easy to use cooking facilities and tv. Really enjoyed having breakfast outside each morning and watching the steam train pass through the station only yards from my front door. Also seeing the nesting House Martins swooping and feeding their young. Owners were very helpful offering advice about the walk into Whitby (20 mins), the local butchers ( very good) and of course the pub. I didnt eat there but the food looked and smelt good. Great views of trains coming over the bridge and of the river a nice spot to chill out. Lots to see within easy reach. Nice touch having milk and gorgeous cake in fridge on arrival plus tea and coffee. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable week. I have already recommended it to friends.

Small downstairs but with everything you needed for two people and our dog. Upstairs is accessed via a metal spiral staircase and the bed took a little bit getting used too but was fine after the first night. On the railway platform meant we has a clear view of the steam train. Pub opposite was good for food and drink in the beer garden. Excellent location for whitby - walkable- Sandsend and Salburn further afield. Very good value for money.

One of the dining chairs was unsafe as the back was not connected to the seat properly. Kitchen great and welcome tray lovely. Lovely clean bed linen and towels. Location ideal. Shame about head room!
