A spacious beamed cottage with three bedrooms in the village of Ruswarp, one mile from Whitby, Yorkshire’s most beloved seaside town.
Step inside this charming property and you’ll discover light-filled, welcoming rooms with bags of character. Set over three floors, there is plenty of space for a family or three couples to relax together.
To the front is a pleasant south-facing terraced garden. There is also storage for bikes, for those wishing to explore the area on two wheels. Situated near a good local inn, tea rooms and a boating lake in Ruswarp village, Sunnyside makes a very pleasant base from which to discover beautiful North Yorkshire and its stunning coast and moors.
An entrance hall with seating makes for a homely welcome. From here, discover the good-sized sitting room with coal effect gas fire – lovely and cosy after a bracing ramble over the Moors - plus a TV/DVD for your entertainment.
Catch up with family or friends over a meal at the oak table in the dining room. A window seat, stove and beams make this a charming place to linger over a lazy breakfast or perhaps a leisurely supper, followed by a game of cards.
The well-equipped kitchen includes an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine and has a stable door into a small courtyard to the rear.
And so to bed…there is a choice of two rooms to the first floor. A light and airy king-size double, boasts a walk-in closet, decorative original fireplace and bedside lighting for those who like to read before bed. Or, there’s a tranquil twin with full size 3’ white brass beds, bedside table and closet – so pretty.
The immaculate house bathroom include a bath with shower over, basin and WC.
The second floor is home to a gorgeous master double bedroom suite with en-suite shower room. After a good night’s sleep in the comfortable bed, it’s lovely waking up in such a charming room with its polished wood floors and exposed beams. An easy chair, bedside lamps and handy full-length mirror are nice touches.
A lovely feature of Sunnyside cottage is undoubtedly its south-facing front terraced garden – it’s a real suntrap and, with table and chairs, makes a super place to catch a quiet moment. Pretty potted plants add a splash of colour, whilst an evergreen Laurel hedge provides shelter and privacy.
Ruswarp is a picturesque village situated on the banks of the river Esk – it’s possible to hire a rowing boat and explore the river at a leisurely pace. The river is tidal to this point and seals swim up from the harbour and bask on the weir – an amazing sight. Whilst village life is tranquil, the amenities, beach and the heritage of Whitby are just a five minute drive or twenty minute walk away.
Sunnyside is sure to delight guests who are seeking an idyllic rural retreat close to the coast.
