Located in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, this former cow byre nestles in panoramic views. Dating back to the 1700’s this holiday cottage, adjoining the owners’ home, is ideally located for exploring both the National Park and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire. Guests can enjoy and relax in the private lawned garden. Cycle tracks and bridle paths abound from the doorstep and quaint little villages tucked away deep in the valleys await discovery. The ancient seaport of Whitby is just a short drive and from here you can board the steam train and enjoy some of the finest scenery, as it chugs its way through the Esk Valley into the Heartbeat villages of Grosmont and Goathland. Whitby is home to a bustling colourful harbour, a fine marina, the ancient abbey ruins and a 3-mile stretch of sandy beach. Visit the fishing villages of Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay, clinging to the cliff sides. The market towns of Pickering, Kirkby Moorside and Helmsley are easily reached. Steeped in history, the area is home to many famous houses, halls, castles and abbeys. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Surprise View 12 years in the making by the lovely owners chrissy and Derek.Tucked away in this stunning part of the North Yorkshire national park.Great and easy access from the A171 thus enabling quick access to stunning walking, sea side escapes and much more.The owners loved access to a garden that has been lovingly created by long days and various seasons.The owners bought the surrounding 37 acres to provide a safe haven for wildlife and we witnessed deer,rabbits,hares and bird, bees and such like.We stayed for 2 weeks whilst attending a family birthday a couple of hours away from suprise View and every trip in and out was different..We just missed out on the local lionesses celebrity Beth mead who was returning to Whitby from her recent success with the National team.The cottage is perfect and has charm to match its hundreds of years of history but put into a different use as accommodation.Two bedrooms one double one twin both with en-suit large lounge combined with kitchen and dining with utility and hallway perfect size and more if you are staying in or stepping out.It also comes with garden and patio.We came we went and had one day in the weather was superb throughout.Chrissy & Derek left us to it but we're on hand should you need them and offering advice if required on local attractions or dining options.More is less so I will end this review by saying do not hesitate in checking it out

Very comfortable and well-appointed cottage in an idyllic and perfectly peaceful location. The hosts were welcoming and friendly but left us to ourselves as much as we wanted. Cannot recommend this too highly. Do not trust your sat nav though; the cottage is NOT accessible from Bank Lane.
