Fabulous place with wonderful views. The coast is an easy drive away, the roads around Castleton provide a myriad of impressive views, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is an attraction worth visiting and within easy reach. The Eskdale pub also warrants a mention as the food is delicious, the owner friendly and the staff lovely, they also allow dogs (important to us). The owners of the Byre are very obliging and very pleasant to deal with.

We choose the Byre for several reasons we wanted a rest (no phones) there is a landline if needed and you can use wifi calling the wifi is very good. My wife needed single floor accommodation with shower, and I needed a ev charger both of which were accommodated here, the accommodation had everything you needed good comfitable beds good size kitchen easly accommodate 6, But the most important was the area we had been meaning to come and explore this area for some time and finding the Byre meant we could we both just loved the view watching the sheep and rabbits at the back of the house, we saw quite a selection of wildlife, a barn owel, curlu, a pluver to mention just a few. We drove up and down the chimney in Hutton le Hole first time since I was 16, on a vespa scooter, some 60 years ago, we also found cafes tucked away in the most unexpected places and had some very pleasnt lunches.I have to say we thoughly enjoyed our time at The Byre and our hosts were very helpfull and nothing was to much trouble, we have already recommended to others and we will hopfully go it again next year.
