Pretty two storey holiday cottage right beside the village stream. Picturesque village location on the famous NYM’s steam railway line.. 2 steps to entrance.

Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: No children under 5 years old except babes in arms. There are 17 steps to the lower garden, and there are slopes within the garden. There is a river adjacent to the property.. With origins dating back to 1210, this former water mill occupies a unique riverside setting, quite literally a stones throw from Goathland station. Set peacefully away within lush gardens that are a haven for wildlife, The Mill offers an ideal base from which to explore the rugged splendour of the North York Moors National Park, where bridleways and footpaths abound.
Watch steam trains from the comfort of the bed, or better still, hop on board and head for nearby Pickering or Whitby and the wonderful independent shops and restaurants there. York and Helmsley are both within an hour. Pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
There are 17 steps in the garden which runs alongside a river.

Great location next to river and railway station, lovely views. Cottage was spacious and clean . Only downside was we didn’t sleep well, bed was uncomfortable , but that is our personal opinion.It was lovely sitting outside during the evening. The gifts ie bottle of wine , biscuits and chocolates were a lovely gesture. There was tea / coffee , sugar , bread , butter and milk ect . Short walk to the pub and shops but it is uphill from the cottage for a short distance, no problems with return journey home. Plenty of places to eat , Goathland pub serves lovely meals , large portions, reasonably priced, sadly we didn’t see Tricia from the tv programme Heartbeat but she is there often we were told . There’s a couple of cafes and a post office and souvenir shops , and of course Scripps garage. Lovely walks available for the more able bodied . Sheep everywhere , free roaming a delight to see but need drive with care . Brilliant base to stop if visiting Whitby, Robin Hoods bay , Scarborough ect .

satisfacory stay. neighbour was not hospitable when trying to find exact location. went to her house by mistake but apologised immediately. husband was very understanding the woman was quite rude. never let it spoil our stay.

This was our second stay at The Mill. It's ideally situated in Goathland, next door to the railway station. It is a wonderful accommodation with excellent facilities. It is an ideal base for touring the moors, taking a ride on the NYMR, and there are so many lovely walks from Goathland and the surrounding area. Thank you for the welcome gifts.
