Guests say

White Goose Cottage in Whitby is praised for its peaceful riverside location, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped amenities. Guests enjoy the scenic walks into town and the tranquil setting. Some minor cleanliness issues in the kitchen and maintenance details were noted, but overall experiences were positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the property clean and tidy, with specific praise for the cooker, fridge, and counters. However, one review highlighted cleanliness issues in the kitchen, including dirty utensils and dinnerware, which suggests room for improvement.

The location is highly appreciated for its tranquility by the river, proximity to Whitby, and scenic walks. The peaceful setting and views are frequently mentioned as highlights, contributing to a positive experience.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and sofas. Some minor issues were raised regarding furniture and space in the spare room, but overall, the comfort level was deemed satisfactory.

The property is described as well-equipped and maintained, with a few guests noting maintenance issues and inconsistent hot water. The presence of a balcony and heating were positives, but some felt that kitchenware could be better maintained.

While some guests mentioned a welcome pack and bottle of wine, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host. As such, while these gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for all stays.

Perfectly positioned for easily visiting all the town's, villages and attractions you would want in the North Yorshire area. If you like to walk out in the evening to eat or drink this may not be the place for you if your not fit and used to walking up hills, the climb from the cottage to the main road is severe and then it's another hilly walk of 30 mins into whitby. Taxis seem to be easy to book and relatively cheap so ideal for nights out if you want to try one of the many bars and restaurants whitby has to offer. All in all a great holiday and lively place to stay.

The light in the corner next to the couch is full of dead flies which glow in the room when the light is switched on. Also it would be nice if the utensils were sharp eg: Knives for cutting etc. But we have stayed here a few times and if these little faults were sorted it would be perfect.

Nice position by the River Esk. We knew about the steep hill up to the viaduct so were prepared!
