Guests say

Castleton House is a charming and cosy fisherman’s cottage in Staithes, much loved by returning guests for its stunning sea views, central location, and inviting wood burner. The property is well-equipped, clean, and ideal for families and dog owners. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as a history file and occasional welcome gifts, as well as the convenience of a parking permit. The village’s hilly terrain may not suit those with mobility issues, but the proximity to the beach, pubs, and local walks makes it a delightful base for exploring the area.

Multiple reviews mention the cottage being very clean and well-presented, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

The location is repeatedly praised for its central position in Staithes, close to the beach, pubs, and village amenities, with beautiful views from the cottage. The only caution is the hilly terrain, which may be challenging for some.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and spacious, especially enjoying the wood burner and sea views. The only minor note is the need for a fire in colder weather.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, particularly the kitchen. The lack of a washing machine is noted but not seen as essential. The parking permit and provision of buckets and spades are appreciated.

Guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome calls, a history file, and occasional gifts like a Christmas tree, card, and biscuits. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

3rd time here, lovely place and can't imagine ever getting bored! This is the 3rd time I've stayed at Castleton House now so that tells you that its nice. Its spread over 3 floors, the views from the top floor are great, overlooking Staithes Harbour. Its nice sitting by the window listening to the sea and the gulls. The house itself is well appointed, comfy and spacious. Everything you need for a weeks stay there. Yes, its quite a walk to and from the car park but the village was never designed for cars so its hardly a surprise! i much prefer cooler temperatures so would have been nice to be able to open the ground floor windows. Apart from that there is nothing I didn't like about the cottage. Its a nice location and with it being slightly off the 'beaten track' you hardly get anyone walking by.

This was our second tine staying at Castleton House and we enjoyed it as much as the first tine. The location is brilliant (best suited to those with no walking difficulties though). The house has everything needed for a comfortable stay including a fully stocked kitchen for easy cooking. The upstairs bedroom is a delight…views from this are perfect. The village itself is stunning and the proximity to the pubs (Cod and Lobster is top-notch) and cafes (Dotty’s scones are out of this world). We would happily stay here again.
