Guests say

Fern House is a well-decorated, homely cottage in Saltburn by the Sea, praised for its great location and comfortable living spaces. Guests enjoyed the proximity to local attractions and the cosy atmosphere for family celebrations. Some minor issues were noted regarding cleanliness and facilities, but overall, the property provided a pleasant base for exploring the area.

Cleanliness received mixed reviews. Some guests found the cottage spotless, while others noted it could be cleaner, with specific mentions of unclean bathrooms and the need for a more thorough vacuuming. The inconsistency suggests room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to nearby towns and attractions, with beautiful views and easy access to local beaches and villages. It serves as an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area.

Most guests found the cottage comfortable, with cosy living spaces, comfy beds, and warm showers. However, some mentioned issues with heating control and the size of bath towels, slightly affecting the overall comfort score.

Facilities were generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and high-quality bathrooms. Some guests suggested the need for more kitchenware and better showers. The lack of Christmas decorations and difficulty with the heating system were also noted.

While guests appreciated the overall experience, there were no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

A great house, in a great location..There were a few niggling problems, however (there always are). We visited for Christmas so the house was cold. We put the radiators up but that didn't seem to work. I eventually googled the thermostat and had to download an app and control the heating that way. I'm not sure how many other visitors would be able to handle the heating system. We always go away for Christmas. This was the first cottage we have stayed in for the festive season where there was absolutely no Christmas decorations. So, coupled with a cold house, it wasn't particularly inviting when we arrived. And we found the electric hob difficult to use, so eg. we gave up on the whistling kettle and went out and bought a plug-in kettle of our own.
