About this property

Staithes 2.5 miles. A splendid single-storey lodge resting in the village of Runswick Bay, paces away from the beach, Honeysuckle Lodge is ideal for guests looking to uncover all that both the Yorkshire coastline and North York Moors National Park has to offer. Discover this fabulous ground-floor lodge in a rural area boasting two neatly-adorned bedrooms, both with plenty of storage so you can make yourself at home. Make the most of the open-plan living space, with a well-equipped kitchen, pleasant dining area and a fabulous sitting area where you can lounge and enjoy some light entertainment on the Smart TV, in front of roaring electric coal-effect fire. Throw open the French doors and step out onto the private patio, ready to relish an alfresco meal on the outdoor furniture or a delight in a toasty dip in the hot tub, a perfect way to end a day of walking! Runswick Bay Beach is a great place to spend the day engaging in watersports activities, from kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. Wake up by taking a short stroll there and breathing in the seaside air before heading into the village centre for a breakfast pastry in one of the cafés. Visit the village of Staithes to stock up on necessities and sample one of the many restaurants, including pubs, takeaways, restaurants, tea rooms, and traditional fish & chips. In 109 miles of breathtaking landscape, rugged moors, tranquil shoreline, and a variety of charming communities, the Cleveland Way offers an exhilarating walk through the magnificent North York Moors National Park. Explore the gothic Whitby Abbey, independent stores and cafés, the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and enjoy classic seaside entertainment at the working port in the lively coastal town of Whitby. Honeysuckle Lodge is a lovely starting point for an enjoyable coastal adventure.

A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.

The lodge is really a 2+2 and not a 4 x adults. The lodges are quite close together and when fully occupied the site will be extremely tight for access, parking and manoeuvring. There were no instructions for how to operate the oven nor anywhere to hang/leave wet coats and muddy boots

Now that the lodges are closer together you have to be aware of being overlooked. As usual, spotlessly clean, very warm and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. The oven was a bit of an IQ challenge as there were no instructions, so discovering how to turn it on and what the various settings meant was not easy. As for the TV good luck with that! The only missing item was a chopping board as any food had to be prepared on the work top. When all lodges are in use parking will be very tight especially if anyone comes in two vehicles. We shall definitely be back!

Very clean, very comfortable, and well equipped! The site again very clean and private. The beautiful Runswick Bay is only 5 minutes walk away (very steep hill), recommend the Royal Hotel for a meal. The only small gripe is we did have a struggle turning the hot tub off and turning the oven on - copies of instruction manuals would be useful. Very relaxing stay, just what we needed
