. In a beautiful rural setting amidst rolling countryside, in the picturesque Vale of York, this spacious Georgian cottage is approached along a half mile farm track and is situated on the owner’s working arable and livestock farm, adjacent to the farmhouse. This welcoming cottage, with polished wood floorboards in the lounge and dining room, is tastefully furnished to offer very comfortable accommodation.
Located on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 3 and a half miles drive from Castle Howard and with pleasant open countryside views towards both the Howardian Hills and the Wolds, walkers can enjoy country walks with footpaths from the door. The historic city of York, 12 miles, is easily accessible and appeals to all ages with its wealth of world renowned attractions including the magnificent minster, the castle and railway museum, The Jorvik Centre and the Chocolate Story. There are art galleries and theatres, quirky shops along the cobbled streets and numerous inns serving real ale.
Castle Howard hosts an interesting programme of events and has a lovely restaurant and farm shop. This is a wonderful farm cottage The owners live next door and that is a great asset since thay are helpful and sociable without being intrusive in any way. It is great to see how farming is carried on in this peaceful rural location. The cottage is spaceous and homely with splendid views over the Howardian Hills. Castle Howard is close by and it is easy to get into York especially with the Monks Cross park and ride. Equally, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington are not far away if you want seaside. We spent most of our time walking the nearby Ebor Way. I can highly recommend this cottage.

This is our second time at the cottage. We love it ! It is a home from home. Plenty of seating, spacious rooms and bedrooms. Yes, you do need a car but there is plenty to do and you cannot fault the hosts who go out of their way to make sure your stay is wonderful.
