Step outside and York city centre is just a 10-minute walk away. Enter through Bootham Bar, one of York’s historic gated entrances and you will soon find yourself in the main plaza in front of the majestic York Minster. The Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum, York Chocolate Story and York Castle Museum are also close by. When you get tired of wandering the cobbled streets take an hour to rest in one of York’s beautiful city centre parks; the Museum Gardens and Rowntree Park sit alongside the River Ouse and will provide a quiet interlude to your city break.

For those that enjoy heights why not take a bird’s eye view of medieval York from the top of York Minster or traverse the narrow staircases inside Cliffords Tower. Spend a day at York Races, walk the city walls, shop for hours, enjoy the many attractions, take a boat ride along the river or enjoy the vibrant night lift.
