Hovingham (3 miles) is the ancestral home of the Duchess of Kent and this picturesque village has a bakery where visitors can enjoy freshly baked bread and pies. The magnificent 18th-century house at Castle Howard, location for the filming of Brideshead Revisited is close by and hosts annual events and concerts, has an award-winning farm shop and beautiful gardens. Local places of interest include Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Abbey, Eden Camp Museum and Flamingo Land, and you can find out about their opening times on one of the touch screen computers we provide. Wandale Barn is a beautiful cottage, with plenty of space for family and friends. Owner was extremely quick to respond to the couple of initial questions that we had. It is in a very quiet and private setting with fields on all sides. Will hopefully return.

The barn was beautiful and spacious and with 4 large bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, it was ideal when you have teenage children! It had everything we needed and more. The highlight was the gorgeous surroundings. So peacefull, and the night skies were breathtaking, with no light pollution. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.
