Nestled in the sleepy village of Stranocum, a few miles from Armoy, is this converted Georgian school, Archie’s Schoolhouse. Boasting character features and set over the ground-floor, Archie's Schoolhouse is a charming and historic property which presents the perfect base from which to explore the North Coast of Ireland. After parking up in the off-road parking space, make yourself comfortable in your new home from home. Discover the sitting room, setting the tone for the rest of the property, with heritage colours and period touches that create a real sense of character, including a piano and an alluring open-fire. Why not unwind after a day of exploring with a movie night and choose from one of over a hundred DVDs kindly provided by the owners? Move into the kitchen/diner, housing all the essentials for a short break, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and even a washer/dryer. Serve the fruits of your labour at the dining table, surrounded by your loves ones as you discuss where to visit next. Move through to the bedrooms, offering a king-size, a double and a twin, each presented with vibrant colours and traditional furnishings. Start the morning with a refreshing shower, followed by a cup of coffee from the Dulce Gusto coffee machine, before heading out and enjoying the fresh air from the rear patio garden. Next stop is Bushmills, where you can sample the local delights at the welcoming pubs and restaurants of the Tartine and The Bushmills Inn, which overlook the Bush River, followed by delving into history at the Busmills Heritage Centre or perusing the delightful Creative Gardens Bushmills. Visit the famous UNESCO site of Giant’s Causeway where you can wander along the renowned basalt columns and marvel at the breath-taking scenery on offer, there is also the wonderful Smugglers Inn and the Causeway Hotel for dining options, as well as a historic tramway nearby for easy links to the surrounding areas. For a day on the sands, head to the popular National Trust Whitepark Bay Beach, where you can bathe and surf or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the sand dunes speckled with wildflowers. Nearby is Ballintoy, home to a picturesque fishing harbour which has become a popular film location, along with the stunning Causeway Coastal Route, perfect for those who like to drive with a view. Just a little further you will find Ballycastle, where you can treat your loved ones to a meal at the Central Bar and The Marine Hotel, or at charming cafes such as the Ursa Minor and Thyme & Co. Why not venture to the seafront and enjoy an ice cream as the little ones play in the park, or hop aboard a ferry to Rathlin Island where wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to spotting the seals, puffins & dolphins. Don’t forget to hike up to Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, a National Trust site and one of the top attractions in Northern Ireland, expect exceptional views! All this and more awaits with a stay at Archie’s Schoolhouse.
