About this property

Portsoy and Cullen 3 miles. A well-presented, former fisherman's cottage based in the coastal fishing village of Sandend, near Portsoy in Scotland. Boasting a delightful stone exterior, with a modern interior design, stunning wooden flooring and a wonderful open-plan layout, this property offers a warm and welcoming feeling from the moment you step through the door. Spend your evenings in the lounge area, which offers plenty of seating to relax and unwind on, with the lovely woodburning stove to keep you warm during those chilly winter evenings. The kitchen boasts a Velux roof window, which gives the room an abundance of natural light, with all integrated appliances in a pristine white finish. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the dining room table and plan the day's events. The property has a convenient ground floor super-king-size bedroom. There is also a ground floor shower room making it ideal for those with limited mobility. A further two bedrooms rest on the first floor, consisting of a super king-size and twin setup, with a range of modern furniture to store your personal items. Sandend is a delightfully quaint small conservation village where traditional fishermen’s cottages were built around the 19th Century ‘C ‘Listed harbour in period format, with the Gables facing the sea for weather protection. It has a beautiful beach with golden sands stretching across the wide bay where you can swim and Surf. A Surf School was set up in 2017, attracted by the impressive waves. From Easter to Autumn the beach is occupied with happy sand–castle builders and rock pool explorers, surfers and joggers. There are many foot path trails and from the adjoining cliff tops you can spot Dolphins, seals and Orca. Visitors frequently sit at the Harbour picnic tables, enjoying a leisurely lunch looking out to sea or an evening glass of wine watching the sunset. Also in Sandend the caravan park has a small shop which sells bread, milk, newspapers and ice cream. There is also a working fishhouse in the village where you can purchase freshly caught fish and shell fish. Larger Grocery shopping can be accessed in Portsoy or Cullen (medium sized Co-ops) or at a larger scale Tesco in Buckie (10 Miles). However you might wish to be highly organised and do an advance Tesco shop online and have the groceries delivered to the cottage for just after you arrive. Discover the ruins of Findlater Castle, standing on a rocky cliff, with views across the sea and offering many walking opportunities across the cliffs. Sandend itself is a delightful fishing village and is perfect for those keen on fishing and boating. After all this sightseeing you can return to this cottage to relax and unwind with your loved ones.

Great location. Really appreciated the coffee and prosecco. Everything was five star. Worth a line item in the guide book about where to recycle glass... Thanks for stay.

It has everything you could possibly need. There is a folder providing operating instructions for all appliances. The furniture and furnishings are top class and the beds are very comfortable. It is situated in a lovely village with a lovely beach. Surf lessons are available. The whole of the Aberdeenshire coast in this area is lovely with many traditional fishing villages to visit. Also many golf courses to take advantage of. A great holiday.
