Discreetly set in Kincardineshire on the border of the Scottish Highlands, this is a perfect romantic retreat. This one bedroomed serviced cottage is perfect for those cosy nights in front of an open fire, with a long lie in a curved king sized bed. Take time to appreciate a Nespresso coffee from the kitchen and enjoy the quiet seclusion then savour in the Jacuzzi bath and cuddle up and watch a Blu-ray dvd. Set within the Fasque House Estate, it’s four hundred acres are the natural home to a host of Scottish wildlife including deer, red squirrels, otters and eagles. This charismatic property can also double as a base from which to explore further afield with Aberdeen and Dundee only an hour away. An easy drive opens up a world of activities to try (such as a whisky tour at Fettercairn Distillery) and historic sites to explore (Crathes Castle and Gardens near Banchory or the ruins of Dunnottar Castle to name a few).

Whilst the property was very well converted and comfortable it could have been better. Removing the over-sized mirror leaning against the wall and the stack of empty luggage boxes would have made space for a small table and two dining chairs which would have been an improvement. Kitchen equipment was rudimentary and a bit odd. We would have swapped one or even both of the cake-stands for a couple of egg-cups, a sharp kitchen knife and a potato peeler.
