This delightful, detached cottage is situated in the heart of the farm on the rural Whitehouse Estate, just outside the village of Alford. It is furnished in a very comfortable style, is open plan with a cosy wood burner and its own private garden and sitting out area.
Nestled on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, this property has great walks from the front door, with plenty of other activities nearby, including golf, fishing (salmon and trout), mountain biking, climbing, birdwatching, sailing and wildlife watching. Alford has many amenities including a swimming pool, sports centre, pubs, shops, restaurants, craft shops, two museums, a narrow gauge railway and a huge country park area, all making for great family days out.
There are many walks to enjoy, with a historic battlefield and a golf course along the way. Alford Heritage Centre has an extraordinary collection of objects, books and images, housed in the old auction mart, whilst Grampian Transport Museum is a treasure house of transport history, displaying working exhibits and DVD presentations illustrating the history of travel and transport. Also close by you will fin Craig Y Nos Castle and Country Park, a popular venue for celebrations.
Skirted by the beautiful River Don and surrounded by the hills of Bennachie and Coreen, the area is a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Three miles south of Alford is Craigievar Castle (National Trust Scotland), a unique tower house built in the 1580s and was converted to its current form in the early 1600s. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
