This half-round property is set amidst trees in the grounds of the Bainaboth Estate, offering a peaceful retreat.. "Acres of peaceful and secluded countryside surround these magnificent cottages..."
At the heart of Glenprosen, one of the renowned ‘Glens of Angus’, lies the Balnaboth Estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park; 6,000 peaceful and secluded acres surrounding 16th-century Balnaboth House. In its midst, these six characterful holiday cottages each offer a unique and magical holiday retreat; indeed the creator of Peter Pan himself (Sir James Barrie) was born in nearby Kirriemuir and holidayed here.
These cottages were once occupied by shepherds, gardeners or other staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees, otters frequent the burns, and deer graze all around. Because of the varied scenery, that varies from beech woods to forest, pasture to heather moor, mountain streams to river pools, the area enjoys a spectacular range of wildlife, including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain, such as black game and ptarmigan.
Magnificent walking, bird-watching, mountain biking and (in season) cross-country skiing abound on the estate and, further afield, downhill skiing at Glen Shee (25 miles). Fishing is available on a 5-mile stretch of the River Prosen, and there are twenty golf courses within an hours’ drive.
Enjoy the seclusion of this beautiful glen - peaceful, relaxing, scenic - yet just a few minutes’ drive from bustling market towns and busy fishing harbours which hug the Angus coastline, as well as from the city of Dundee which offers many attractions for all the family. The exciting Dundee Contemporary Arts is a stunningly-designed centre which incorporates galleries, a print studio and two art-cinema screens, while the Mills Observatory is Britain’s only full-time public observatory with a resident astronomer.
Good road, rail and air access to Angus provide easy access from all parts of the UK or international destinations. Shop 9-10 miles.. 1 step to entrance.

Myself and my partner Andy had a fantastic time. The location was perfect, the river, the walks but most special thing was all the birds at the cottage, peacocks, peahens, pheasants and all the different varieties of birds. I was lucky to have a red squirrel at the front door.We will definitely be back hopefully in October if cottage not booked. We didn't even miss the TV or phone. Best relaxing holiday for anyone who wants to totally get away.Great location for exploring the Cairngorms and all palaces and castles.I have recommended the estate holiday cottages to my family and friendsA couple of niggles,I found the bed uncomfortable which hurt my back, however I bought a blow up bed and slept down stairs which was so relaxing especially in front of the log stove. It made my holiday even more great. Some cutlery and pots, dishes were a little dirty.Best holiday.

Go to this estate regularly just love the remoteness and nature don’t usually book tinkerbell but my other choice was taken enjoyed it thoroughly but be warned the bed is about 6 inches high I managed but as I’m getting older probably wouldn’t return there it’s awkward at my age now

This bright, cosy, unique cottage give the proper feeling of leaving normal life behind for a moment. For who is interested, the 4G network does reach the cottage, but I would advice to ignore this other than checking the weather to time the gorgeous short and longer walks in Glen Prosen and the surrounding glens of Angus. After that you can poke the fire, go for a cold dip in the river next to cottage and/or a warm one in the bath, and enjoy a book, the multiple DVDs, or cooking a big meal in the spacious kitchen.
