Set in a perfect location in the stunning coastal fishing village of Johnshaven, Seashore Retreat is a lovely cottage set right on the sea front. It truly could not have a better location. The stunning view can be enjoyed all year round from the comfort of the garden summer house. With patio doors leading from the living room right to the decking, there are no shortage of vantage points to watch the waves crashing against the rocks. Both bedrooms are rear facing, which means you can drift off to sleep whilst listening to the sea right outside the window. Johnshaven is a quaint little village on the North East Coast of Scotland, approx a 15-minute drive from both Stonehaven and Montrose. Famous for both fishing and its harbour, it is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a coffee, whilst taking in the magnificent views.
The yearly Johnshaven Fish Festival is a popular event which is a celebration of the villages place in the local maritime history. The Johnshaven Heritage Museum is certainly also worth a visit. Once you have explored the local seafront, then you can venture further afield to Dunnottar Castle, which is around 12 miles away. Be sure to stop in Catterline for a spot of rockpooling or a bite to eat in the local inn.
Both Aberdeen and Dundee are within 1 hours drive. Beach 100 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

I have lost point of the number of times I have returned to this property! It never disappoints! Have just returned from two glorious weeks with the wonderful weather showcasing its seafront position.

My wife and I have stayed in many coastal cottages, but Seashore retreat was by far, the best accommodation we had the pleasure of spending our weeks holiday in by a 'coastal mile) excuse the pun ! The cottage was so well laid out and comfortable and had everything we needed and more. The rooms were comfortable with great views, the kitchen huge and the sitting out areas were sublime. We have no negatives to report and our host Jennifer, kept us well informed and was always at the other end of phone if we needed anything (which we had no need for) If we visit the area again, we would have no reservations on returning to this lovely cottage. Hopefully, sometime in the future that will be the case.

Seashore Retreat has an ideal location looking over the sea. There are fantastic views from inside the house, the decking and garden. If you enjoy bird watching, wave watching and spotting dolphins this house is for you. It is very comfortable and well equipped. There are coastal paths leading to the north and south. Don’t miss the fantastic mural at Gordoun. The local shop, tea room and inn are great. There are many interesting places to visit and lovely eateries but one I must mention is The Pavilion in Montrose. Definitely don’t miss the Waters Edge, a delightful little shop in Johnshaven, run by a very helpful couple.
