Set in a perfect location in the stunning coastal fishing village of Johnshaven, Seashore Retreat is a lovely cottage set right on the sea front. It truly could not have a better location. The stunning view can be enjoyed all year round from the comfort of the garden summer house. With patio doors leading from the living room right to the decking, there are no shortage of vantage points to watch the waves crashing against the rocks. Both bedrooms are rear facing, which means you can drift off to sleep whilst listening to the sea right outside the window. Johnshaven is a quaint little village on the North East Coast of Scotland, approx a 15-minute drive from both Stonehaven and Montrose. Famous for both fishing and its harbour, it is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a coffee, whilst taking in the magnificent views.
The yearly Johnshaven Fish Festival is a popular event which is a celebration of the villages place in the local maritime history. The Johnshaven Heritage Museum is certainly also worth a visit. Once you have explored the local seafront, then you can venture further afield to Dunnottar Castle, which is around 12 miles away. Be sure to stop in Catterline for a spot of rockpooling or a bite to eat in the local inn.
Both Aberdeen and Dundee are within 1 hours drive. Beach 100 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Totally beautiful and restful stay guaranteed at Seashore Retreat. We returned after along time and it was everything we remembered and more. Breathtaking sunrise and the sound of waves and seabirds. Comfortable and pristine accommodation which is warm on a stormy night. Delighted to have returned and won’t leave it so long before we book again.

We have just enjoyed another fabulous two weeks at Seashore Retreat at Johnshaven. Lots of sunrises and sunsets, creel boats, seabirds and the odd dolphin were spotted. The house itself never lets us down, super clean and comfy in all respects. I regularly watched the ISS trundle across the early morning dark cloudless sky as well as endless stars. Good weather allowed us to alfresco morning coffee and lunch on the decking. Barely used a supermarket as all the local shops provide quality food products-crab, lobster, scallops, tiger prawns, pies( for me),bread and for cake lovers the Phoenix Bakehouse on a Saturday is not to be missed. Our host really looks after her guests and I'm sure everybody who has holidayed here will agree. We are returning next February.

Seashore Retreat is the best place to go for rest and relaxation. It's so quiet, right on the sea shore at the end of a road. No car sounds, no noise just peace and quiet. It was wonderful to watch the changing tides every day and look out for the most spectacular seabirds. The cottage has everything you could need. We were there for a week and didn't want to leave. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed having a cup of tea on the patio in the mornings and watching the sea. Johnshaven is a lovely fishing village with a pretty harbour. I highly recommend Seashore Retreat
