This charming, 19th century (built in 1822), semi-detached cottage is peacefully situated on a quiet lane at the edge of the coastal village of St Cyrus, 30 miles south of Aberdeen with international airport. The completely natural garden provides a haven for local wildlife, birds and plants and backs onto open farmland at the rear. The holiday cottage retains many quaint features giving it a unique character and a welcoming atmosphere. The village shop, cafes and hotel are within walking distance, as are the miles of golden sands for which St Cyrus is renowned. The cliffs and dunes surrounding the beach are a National Nature Reserve where a plethora of wildlife including peregrine falcons can be spotted. Shops, pub and restaurant 5 miles.

This cottage needs a complete overhaul, we was very disappointed, the garden in the back was unusable very overgrown and a dumping ground with rubbish. The front was very overgrown and you could not see the cottage from the road with a very old milk float out front, unsure what the purpose of it was. The cleanliness was poor, the microwave was dirty, the bread bin had left over crumbs and raisins in it. The floors were dirty, hair in the plughole in the shower room and used bars of soap and the shower curtain was black at the bottom. We left after 3 days. Would not recommend this unless it is completely upgraded.

I really don’t know what to say! The cottage is located in a small hamlet with nothing in it. St Cyrus only has a very small convenience shop which is expensive. The Nature Reserve is close by but the road is full of huge potholes. The steptoes yard is worth a visit. The cottage has a very unusual layout, with the full bathroom and a very small kitchen. The dinning area is small and in what appears to be the utility room. The furniture is very uncomfortable. Really uncomfortable and the kitchen is basic but if you are only there for a base and not spending a lot of time there it’s ok . And so yes good value for money but for a restful holiday no! You could not spend two weeks there as it’s not comfortable enough. It’s just a place to sleep, eat, shower and go. The garden is a jungle and the sitting area is none existent. I am being honest. We came home four days early because it was so uncomfortable and couldn’t sleep.
