The Old Barn at Ormidale will accommodate up to 16 guests in total, with our maximum adult occupancy being 12.
Located in some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland and only an hour from Glasgow The Old Barn at Ormidale is an ideal location for large groups or a family gathering or reunion. Nearby are the stunning Kyles of Bute which are a favourite for both walkers and sailors and in this part of Scotland we benefit from a mild micro-climate. Being on The Cowal peninsula makes for the ideal base for an interesting and action packed holiday with amazing wildlife, many gardens and other tourist attractions to visit, and a plethora of sporting activities all catered for.
Sitting about a mile above the head of Loch Riddon, Ormidale itself has grounds extending to some 23 acres providing complete privacy and magnificent views down the glen to the river Ruel. The renowned Island of Bute can be accessed in as little as 15 minutes from the house via ferry from Colintraive.

Having taken nearly 3 years to complete with no expense spared, The Old Barn at Ormidale is the most luxurious of our three properties (Ormidale House and Ormidale Mill House being the other two). The kitchen and living areas still retain their original exposed stone walls and running throughout the ground floor is a travertine marble floor. The entire property benefits from constant underfloor heating from an environmentally sustainable ground source heat pump.
The wonderfully light kitchen/breakfast room features a large glass archway with a door out to the private cobbled courtyard terrace and original exposed stone wall. The worksurface is granite with oak cabinets beneath and there is a stone Belfast sink and travertine marble floor. To further underline our commitment to quality we have installed the most up-to-date Neff, Gaggia and Bosch kitchen appliances. There is an American-style fridge freezer, a single oven, a double oven, a microwave, a halogen hob, a large toaster and even a coffee machine. The expandable island unit will seat up to eight guests.
Off the kitchen leading through an open exposed stone arch is a large sitting room with three sofas. Also, there is a separate television room seating up to 12 which can convert into a double bedroom. The dining room has a table which can seat eight guests or be expanded to seat a maximum of 14.
The bedrooms consist of six double and twin rooms and a bunk room for children upstairs and there is also the downstairs television room which can convert into an additional double bedroom for extra guests or to provide easy access for an elderly or disabled couple. Five of the bedrooms feature wash-hand basins and most have king size or super king beds. There is also a downstairs loo and shower room, a sauna.
