The forest and surrounding lochs are renowned for walking and cycling. The cottage is close to the scenic Allt Robuic gorge and waterfalls, and sits directly on the Cowal Way, a popular 57-mile trail between Inverglas and Portavadie. Glenbranter also offers an excellent base for more challenging hill walking with a number of easily accessible peaks, rising steeply above Loch Eck and affording stunning views over the Cowal peninsula, the Clyde sea lochs and beyond. Three miles away is Strachur village, with its two general stores, the famous Inn offering delicious food and a cosy bar, and local tearoom’s delightful breakfasts, takeaway rolls, and meals throughout the day.
