Hilibre is a stunning lodge sitting in an elevated position in the village of Strachur, overlooking the beautiful Loch Fyne in Argyll. The lodge boasts its own private hot tub with stunning views over the loch. Strachur has a shop/post office /café just across the road, and the pub is a short walk along the beach if the tide is right, if not you can go along the road, it’s just minutes away. It is a fantastic base for exploring all that Argyll has to offer and is a pathway to the great outdoors, views that are breath taking, wildlife on the doorstep, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, hikes and great wild swimming spots all just across the road from the house. It really is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a hard day exploring on an activity filled holiday.
The surrounding area is known as Argyll’s Secret Coast with its sparkling sea lochs, romantic ruins, ancient forests, and stunning scenery. This coastal route takes you through some of the most stunning parts of Argyll’s Secret Coast; a magical undiscovered corner of Cowal. A number of public gardens are located in the area, such as Ardkinglas, Crarae and Benmore Botanic Gardens with its avenue of giant redwood trees. There are three golf courses available locally and many opportunities for a spot of fishing. At Colintraive there is a short ferry crossing over to the picturesque Isle of Bute and a visit to the fabulous Victorian Gothic Mount Stuart House is a must. Inveraray is also a great day out with the castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll and the 19th century Inveraray jail, both well worth a visit. The town of Dunoon is approximately 20 minutes and offers a good centre for shopping, leisure facilities and a small cinema. The Argyll Forest, part of the simply gorgeous Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is on the doorstep and has numerous forest tracks, marked walks, cycle ways and wonderful waterfalls to explore.

Excellent. Hilbre looks out onto the loch and has spectacular views. The house is lovely and has everything you could possibly need while on holiday. The hot tub was an added bonus. Our family and dog thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at Hilbre and we had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation has everything you’d ever need to allow cooking, washing and drying which is a god send not having to take all the washing home. All the rooms are great sizes and having two toilets is ideal with a large family. The views from the decking area are incredible and the hot tub with a view, what more can you say! Would highly recommend staying here!

Just returned from a weeks stay at Hilbre, this is the best accommodation we have stayed in. The cottage has absolutely everything you need and finished to a high spec. The setting is just breathtaking with views of the loch, the little side extension os a relaxing space with binoculars and telescope. A bird watchers dream with birds in the garden at all times of the day. The hot tub sits on a raised decking with antislip matting, handrail and ambient lighting.A short walk to the loch where you can walk to the local pub in 20 mins along the loch if the tide is out or along the main road.The owner shared exact location and directions and useful information.Highly recommend a stay here!
