Situated on the banks of the River Orchy, this wonderful 19th-century, detached stone cottage offers the perfect retreat for a relaxing holiday. Argyllshire is renowned for its rugged landscape, rocky shore lines and magnificent scenery. The area is very popular for walking, climbing and kayaking, whilst both Glencoe and Fort William offer excellent skiing in the winter. Salmon fishing is available on the River Orchy which is next to the property and there is trout and coarse fishing on Loch Awe, just 2 miles away (seasonal, licence required for each location, at cost). Visit the ‘Hollow Mountain’ deep in Ben Cruachan, or take the exhilarating walk to the dam high above where the views alone are worth the climb.
Nearby, the famous Kilchurn Castle sits at the head of Loch Awe, and from Oban regular ferries to the inner isles including Mull and Iona offer a chance to see porpoises, basking sharks and golden eagles. Bonawe Iron Works, Oban Sealife centre and the Inveraray Jail make for great days out and there are also many ancient castles, beautiful gardens and museums to explore. Oban, known as the ’seafood capital of the UK’, is the largest town in the area and has some excellent restaurants, shops, leisure centre and a cinema. Craig Lora is only ½ a mile from the village of Dalmally, a small quiet village with a train station, golf course, restaurant and pub. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
