Kilcreggan is a beautiful village on the Roseneath Peninsula looking across the Firth of Clyde towards Gourock, and is sandwiched between Loch Long and Gare Loch. There is a passenger ferry from Gourock that goes right into the heart of the village and to drive one must take the scenic drive up the side of Loch Lomond and then over the hill towards Garelochhead, which only takes 45 minutes to reach Kilcreggan from Glasgow.
Ivy Cottage is a detached traditional stone cottage over two levels, with three spacious bedrooms, a living room, a separate dining room and a boot room with direct access to the private garden. The bedroom on the ground floor has French doors leading out to a private patio with garden furniture, and the two bedrooms on the first floor have fantastic views towards the Firth of Clyde and also over the gardens.
The large southfacing front garden has mature trees and bushes providing privacy to enjoy a barbecue and to sit out.
Kilgreggan was a popular place for Glasgow’s merchants to have a summer home, or even a permanent residence, due to its location from Glasgow and the abundance of paddle steamers in those days. The legacy of that era are the numerous large sandstone homes all across the Roseneath Peninsula. With flat roads, it is easy to cycle up to Garlochhead and back, a roundtrip journey of about 15 miles or you can just enjoy the many walks along the shore up towards Cove overlooking Loch Long. For those a little more adventurous, Loch Lomond is only 25 minutes away and Loch Fyne about 1 hour. Ivy Cottage is also suited to groups and families for walking and cycling. Beach 300 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
