This picturesque village offers a place to park up and begin your Galloway excursion, perhaps following a looping walking or cycling route to Loch Clatteringshaws (9.5 miles), spotting red deer and otters in the River Dee as you go. For water sports, make your way to the Galloway Activity Centre (6 miles) on Loch Ken, where you’ll find plenty of adrenaline-pumping adventure opportunities out on the water.
