A 17th Century former mill cottage offering quaint and simple holiday accommodation in an idyllic wooded setting and surrounding grounds of an acre or so., it is not unusual to see Woodpeckers in the garden. Woodhall Loch is just across the road while Loch Ken is only a short drive or a "good walk". The cottage is on the Red Kite trail and within easy reach of the Galloway Forest Park, Britain's first designated Dark Sky Park. Coarse fishing is available by permit on Woodhall Loch. Nearby Loch Ken, which is also an excellent coarse fishery, has the Galloway Activity Centre for dinghy, windsurfing and canoe instruction/hire plus other activities and the Loch Ken Marina with water skiing.

The Galloway Hills are just a short drive away as are the many coves and beaches along the Solway Coast. Castle Douglas known locally as 'The Food Town' and Kirkcudbright known as 'The Artists Town' are within a 20 minute drive both towns offer many independent and interesting shops.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Refundable Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by the property manager to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by the property manager within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by the property manager and due for payment within 14 days of notification.
