On arrival at Galloway View it was definitely a wow, for the size and layout of the lodge and the fantastic view. However luxury isn't quite right particularly in relation to cleanliness. The toilets including round the outside of the bowl, fridge, and oven all need a good clean. The throw in the living room needs replacing as it's very shabby and the towels were hard and one had bleach marks. There was also a rather large dead wasp on the sofa. Having said that everything else was spotless but these small issues do not warrant five stars. Some suggestions: toilet roll holders, the only place is behind the toilet on a shelf which is awkward, shelf in the shower for toiletries and perhaps a handrail for the older generation. Microwavable pots with lids. Whilst the wine and biscuits were a nice touch perhaps some milk in the fridge for anyone arriving late. The taps in the kitchen need tightening up. All the above only suggestions to raise the luxury standard. Overall the rooms are large and comfortable. Beds were were very comfy. Great showers and plenty of hot water. Good private parking. Just one last thing, on the directions it said the key was in a key box that we spent ages trying to find in the pouring rain only to find there isn't one and the door was open. Plenty to see in the local area with lovely cafes in Gatehouse of Fleet. Kirkcudbright is well worth a visit as are the Red Deer in Galloway Forest Park.

Beautiful location with fantastic floor plan optimising the views over the Bay of Fleet and to the hills beyond. Two large bathrooms and plentiful hot water for the oversized bath and powerful showers. Great to sit and watch the weather and wildlife. Lots of rabbits but our highlight was "Kenny" the red kite who made several fly pasts most days. Only minor negatives were insufficient cutlery (knives) to run the dishwasher just once daily, and no bowl or sink plug for washing up; no baking trays / lidded cooking bowls; and no mirror in the main bedroom. These additions would have made it perfect. Special thanks to Liz for posting the bag we left behind 😊
