About this property

Situated in the quintessentially Scottish town of Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway is this charming semi-detached cottage, 2 Burnside Place. Providing a wonderful base for a couples' getaway, the cottage provides all the home comforts for a relaxing, or an adventure-packed holiday to Scotland. On arrival at the property, nearby roadside parking invites you to leave the car and continue your holiday on foot. Make your way into your home-from-home for the trip; the open-plan space blends a contemporary layout with a classically finished cottage home to a kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Utilise the electric oven and gas hob to prepare a tasty home-cooked meal for your loved one, before sitting down at the table to enjoy your meal while you plan your next day of excursions. When it is time to relax, sink into the sofas and snuggle up to watch a film on the Smart TV, while the electric fire warms the space around you. As the evening draws to a close, climb the stairs to the king-size bedroom for some well-earned rest ahead of another busy day. Completing the property is an en-suite shower room where you can freshen up in the walk-in shower. The beautiful town of Kirkcudbright is home to a quaint selection of pubs and restaurants so you can give yourself a break from cooking in the evenings, along with a handful of fascinating attractions including the Stewartry Museum which offers a historical insight into Galloway. Immerse yourself into the town's artsy culture with a visit to The Whitehouse Gallery, or for a peaceful day out, walk along the riverside, make your way to Broughton House & Garden to explore the manicured grounds, and enjoy a picnic while admiring the pretty foliage and flora. If science and space is where your interests lie, be sure to visit Dark Space Planetarium for a special and interactive experience in the state-of-the-art exhibition. Just a short car journey away is the dramatic Cardoness Castle, where you can discover the dramatic 15th century tower, or perhaps a round of golf is more your style, which can be enjoyed at the nearby Gatehouse Golf Course. Scotland, being known for its magnificent castles and lochs, will not leave you short of walking and cycling routes while in the area, passing some of the moody yet picturesque landscapes; branching slightly further afield is the famous Threave Castle and nearby Threave Garden, which boast diverse plant life and wildlife, with some unbeatable landscapes to admire even while en route. 2 Burnside Place is a fantastic base for a memorable break in a stunning area.

Kirkcudbright sits on the banks of the River Dee and is home to a blue flag marina, popular for fishing. Its wide streets and pastel-coloured houses make for an attractive town centre where you can visit the Tolbooth Museum, Broughton House and Gardens (National Trust for Scotland), the Stewartry Museum, MacLellan's Castle, and the Art Gallery. Perhaps best of all are the opportunities for walking, cycling or fishing along the coasts, hills and valleys in some of Scotland's best scenery.

I was initially concerned that the heating wouldn't stay on for more than a minute or two, however I found that the supplementary fan heater and portable radiator together with the electric fire kept the place toasty so the central heating was not needed. Good facilities all in good order. Perfect space, great location, easy parking. I knew it didn't have WiFi when booking but the addition of WiFi would be the only potential improvement I could think of.
