Guests say

Caldow Cottage is consistently praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and central location in Kirkcudbright. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and off-street parking. While the interior receives high marks for comfort, the separate garden's condition and lack of light are noted drawbacks. The property's thoughtful amenities contribute to enjoyable stays, although no specific gifts are mentioned.

The cottage is frequently described as clean and immaculate, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. One mention of ants suggests a minor issue, but overall, the property is well-maintained.

The central location is highly valued for its proximity to local shops, cafes, and attractions. Off-street parking is a notable advantage. The location serves as an excellent base for exploring Galloway.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with ample space and multiple bathrooms enhancing the stay for larger groups. The lack of a king-sized bed and an inviting outdoor sitting area slightly affects the comfort score.

The property is well-equipped with a large kitchen and sufficient bathrooms. However, there are comments about the garden's upkeep and minor maintenance issues like non-working fans and the need for an oven clean.

While guests mention thoughtful amenities that made their stay enjoyable, there are no specific references to gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category accurately.

About this property

A traditional modernised cottage in the historic heart of Kirkcudbright, directly opposite Broughton House. Recently redecorated and refurnished, this is an ideal cottage for a holiday in Kirkcudbright. Everything in the town is within walking distance yet the property is quiet and secluded.

Kirkcudbright is a small historic town on the banks of the River Dee which formed the home of "The Glasgow Boys and Girls" artists groups resulting in the town being recognised as Scotland's Artists' Town. These connections mean that it has been a mecca for artists over the years and there are a number of exciting galleries and regular major art exhibitions in the newly converted and refurbished Kirkcudbright Gallery, formerly the town hall and also in High Street artist workshops, which are open to the public.

Beautifully located on the river, the town also boasts a working harbour used by the local fishing fleet and a marina. There is a small swimming pool and a golf course with many other golf courses nearby. Within a short drive are a number of interesting towns and villages and the Solway Coast with its sandy beaches and rocky shoreline is also within easy access.

Lovely holiday, lovely cottage, but the garden is very uneven and unsafe to walk on when putting clothes on the clothes line

A lovely cottage in the heart of Kirkcudbright. Spacious and clean. One of the best things was having 3 showers. Everybody was comfortable and enjoyed staying here. Another huge advantage was having 2 off road parking spaces. When going out for the day no worries about where we would get a parking space when coming back. Would have liked another front door key, as some of the family went to different places each day. Have stayed here before and will stay here again, for sure

This is our 5th holiday at Caldow Cottage. Immaculate, clean, comfortable and so close to all the amenities of Kircudbright. 3 bathrooms for 3 bedrooms is a real positive. The only minor drawback is there is no useable garden to sit in if the weather allows. The garden is separate from the house and very dark with large trees surrounding it. However if you're a National Trust member, Broughton House and garden is just across the road, which is absolutely beautiful.
