Cressfield Villa is praised for its comfortable beds, good showers, and warm, cosy atmosphere. The adjacent hotel offers excellent food and friendly staff, enhancing the stay. The property is spacious, clean, and well-equipped for family holidays, though some guests noted it could benefit from modernisation and more comprehensive welcome information.
The property is consistently described as clean and well-kept, with several guests specifically mentioning its cleanliness. However, one review mentioned it being 'rather tatty', which slightly affects the score.
The location is appreciated for its easy access to the A74M and proximity to a hotel with excellent food. It serves as a good base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway, though some guests felt the need to travel for family activities.
Guests find the beds super comfortable and the house cosy, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Some minor discomfort from the settees has been noted.
The villa is equipped for a comfortable stay, with a well-equipped kitchen and good showers. However, guests have pointed out the lack of a fully enclosed garden for dogs, absence of instruction manuals, and some dated appliances.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

The holiday property is located on the edge of Ecclefechan village, just minutes from the M74 motorway and the world famous Gretna Green. It is the ideal location for friends and family to meet together from far and wide to enjoy a weekend or even a wedding!
Ecclefechan is a small village, yet its most enduring claim to fame is being the birthplace of Thomas Carlyle, the poet and author, born in 1795. The cottage that he lived in as a child now houses a recreation of an 1800s cottage and is run as a museum by the National Trust for Scotland, which lends a feel to the village that it has been left behind by history. Ecclefechan is perhaps more famous for the Ecclefechan Tart – a taste not to be missed! Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 20 yards.

Good and bad points of Cressfield Villa.Good - comfortable beds, good showers, warm and cosy cottage. Lovely hotel next door serving good food, beer & cider.Bad - The garden (to the front and side) is not fully enclosed as we found out with our Old English Sheepdog escaping through gaps in hedge. No welcome pack, nothing in the cottage to tell you where nearest Doctors, Vets etc are located nor any instruction manuals for the appliances in cottage. The cottage is a little tired and dated.

Lovely house, warm and comfortable and very spacious. Great to have the hotel on the doorstep who did great food and were very tolerant and supportive of our very excitable children. It was great to explore a new area. Staff were really lovely throughout. Only downside is that we felt as a family we had to travel a bit of distance to find things suitable for us for days out
