The local area has an abundance of attractions to suit all tastes with riverside walks from the doorstep and the Galloway Forest Bike and walking trails with in a 15 minute drive. Fishing is available in the town itself and on surrounding lochs. The internationally famous Seven Stanes mountain bike routes are only a few miles away, lying within Galloway Forest Park, which is also a mecca for hiking, bird-watching and outdoor pursuits - it is now designated a Dark Skies Park.
