Fisherman’s Cottage in Stairhaven is charming with every comfort provided to ensure that you have a wonderful holiday. When the cottage was first built around 1850 it was one of the first dwellings in Stairhaven and there are only a handful of houses even today.

We already knew of this beautiful cottage having stayed locally before, so the stunning location didnt come as a surprise. On arrival we were welcomed with some gorgeous home made scones, thank you Trish, they were delicious. The owners had put together a very thoughtful welcome pack made up of locally sourced products and even included a postcard, with a stamp already added. The cottage is beautiful, light and airy and with high quality furnishings and fixtures and fittings and spotlessly clean. The location however was the main reason for us booking, overlooking Stairhaven beach, which was empty 90% of the time and so relaxing. We spent a lot of time exploring the area, although we know it quite well now, but when in the cottage we were either watching the gannets diving into the sea or the birds on the numerous bird feeders in the gardens.A lovely touch was the invitation to help ourselves to the herbs, tomatoes, and strawberries growing in the garden. We did use some tomatoes and they were delicious. Also the information pack encouraged us to feed the birds with the seed and peanuts provided, which again we did. If you need somewhere to get away from it all and relax then look no further. I am missing the sound of the waves now that I am back home!If I could give more than 5 stars then I would.
