High Threave Cottage is a delightful country cottage set quietly on a working farm with lovely views out over the Galloway countryside. High Threave Cottage is spacious with lovely bright rooms with open views from every room in the house. All on the ground floor, there is a large sitting room with comfortable sofas, two good sized bedrooms, dining room, kitchen and two bathrooms it is ideal for couples or a family alike.
Outside at High Threave Cottage is a treat where you can sit on the private decking looking out over the farm enjoying watching the animals and wildlife. Whilst in a lovely rural location High Threave Cottage is only ten minutes from Newton Stewart, a picturesque little market town known as “The Gateway to the Galloway Hills” where you will find a variety of shops, restaurants, cafés, and pubs. Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town, is also only a short, 10 minute car journey away and for those who want to travel further afield, we are close to Cairnryan Port, which regularly runs ferries and/or day trips to Northern Ireland. Surrounded by miles of quiet country lanes, High Threave Cottage is the ideal location for walkers and cyclists and is close to Kirroughtree and the renowned 7Stanes mountain bike trails for the more adventurous.
With the Galloway Forest and Dark Skies Park only a short drive away High Threave Cottage is ideally placed to explore the beauty of Southwest Scotland and the many attractions and activities it has to offer. This area of Dumfries and Galloway, known as ‘The Machars’, boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf stream and is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, offering an ideal base from which to explore the Machars Peninsula and the Galloway hills.

Five star property 😊 Thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay. We received a very warm welcome from Isobel and Will. The property is homely, very well equipped, very spacious and sits looking out over amazing views. Cottage is in an ideal spot for exploring the surrounding area. Highly recommend High Threave Cottage and will definitely return.

Fabulous cottage in a lovely location on a working farm . This is our third stay. The cottage has everything you would need and more. The beds are really comfortable giving a good night's sleep with.lovely bedding. The hosts Willie and Isobel are so friendly and hospitable . You never want to leave . There are many of places to visit while in the area. Would highly recommend .

The cottage has everything you might need Isabel has thought of everything, the decor is lovely and very spacious rooms. There was no internet. Very quiet and peaceful. Isabel left a very nice welcome pack. There are supermarkets, Cinema, Chinese take-away, butchers and a few craft/gift shops in Newton Stewart. Can find things to do further afield to visit if that’s what you want.
