Please note: There is a pond in the garden, 10 yards away. Sorry, no children under 18 years old.. Peacefully situated in extensive, beautifully landscaped and maintained gardens, Low Cordorcan and Wee Cordorcan enjoy an enviable position at the start of the rspb nature reserve at Wood of Cree. Converted from former barns, Wee Cordorcan stands detached, whilst Low Cordorcan is semi-detached, adjoining the owner’s home. The Wood of Cree is the largest area of ancient woodland in southern Scotland and is abundant with bird and wildlife. In spring the wood is carpeted with bluebells and alive with the sound of birdsong, as residents are joined by redstarts, pied flycatchers and garden warblers. By the river you may see goosander and common sandpiper, with teals, snipe and water rails in the riverside meadows. In the autumn, whooper swans and goldeneye arrive from the Arctic. A raised platform gives good views out over the river where otter are often seen.
Cordorcan Cottages are located only 5 miles from the centre of Newton Stewart with many excellent shops and places to eat. With the Galloway Forest and Dark Skies Park close by, the cottage is ideally placed to explore the beauty of south west Scotland. The location is perfect for walkers, golfers and cyclists, with Glentrool, Kirroughtree and the 7Stanes mountain bike trails nearby, as well as a great choice of golf courses. There is an abundance of fishing, bird watching, beautiful and exotic gardens, many rocky coves, sandy beaches and quaint villages to explore along the Machars Peninsula. Beach 29 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles.

central for walks ,waterfalls,wildlife. different place everyday mainly without using car. hosts very friendly and no bother when i wanted to change date of arrival. beautiful part of the country.

A lovely clean , comfortable, well equipped cottage. Good quality throughout with amazing views in a wonderful rural setting. The only fault that would prevent us from booking again was the heating in the property. I asked 3 times during the week about the heating and it was never rectified. The owners property is next door to the cottage and they override the portable WiFi control for the heating in the cottage. The heating did not come on in the evenings at all during our week, however, the heating did come on for a couple of hours in the mornings. No matter what setting we put the our controller on we were never able to put the heating on manually. The weather was really cold in the evening as expected in April in Scotland, therefore, we had to use the cookers 4 rings to get heat. A lovely cottage spoilt by the cold in the bedrooms. This is a true reflection of our week and it was such a shame it was spoilt by the cold! Top tip, Take your own heater if you want to be warm!

Lovely comfortable, well equipped cottage, great location in the Wood of Cree, with RSPB reserve just down the road. Would stay there again.
