Guests say

Minnow Cottage is a quaint property praised for its serene riverside setting and proximity to local amenities. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, particularly the log burner, and find it a good base for exploring Galloway. While some maintenance issues are noted, the charm and location often lead to repeat visits.

The reviews do not extensively cover cleanliness, but the absence of negative comments suggests that the property is kept in a reasonably clean state. However, one mention of a wet wall indicates potential issues that might affect the cleanliness score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the town, local amenities, and scenic walks. The riverside setting is a highlight for many guests, contributing to a high score in this category.

Comfort receives mixed reviews. Guests find the bed comfortable but creaky, and the sofas are noted as old and in need of extra stuffing. The presence of a log burner adds to the comfort, but the maintenance of some amenities is a concern.

Facilities and maintenance are the most criticised aspects, with several guests noting issues such as peeling paint, broken doorsteps, and non-working heaters. While the cottage is equipped for a stay, these maintenance issues lower the score.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Without such references, it is not possible to assess this category, and the score is set to null.

We really loved this cottage. It’s lovely and so peaceful. It’s lovely to sit and just watch the ducks swimming up and down the river. Loves the log burner, plenty of local places to buy logs. Great location to walk into the little village which has few pubs and places to eat. We found the locals so friendly and welcoming.Lots of lovely dog walks which our dogs loved. We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage had everything we needed.

The log burner requires new door seal, as an £8 bag of logs only lasts approx 4 hours, as there no way to turn down air intake and the door handle is faulty. The fire is super cosy, hopefully the few points will help to improve it. As the whole cottage is so quaint. Who would have thought we could have a bbq on Christmas day, just picture perfect.Certainly would return as the bed, sofa, kitchen & bathroom all comfortable, kitchen utensils all in tact.
