Stock up on supplies in Moffat, Scotland’s first ’Walkers Are Welcome’ town, then follow the Annandale Way as it winds towards the Solway Firth – the route joins the Southern Upland Way briefly at Beattock (5.5 miles). Take a romantic day trip to Gretna Green (27 miles), famous for the Blacksmith's Shop where runaway lovers historically tied the knot.
