Admirals Anchor offers a spacious and well-located cottage with beautiful sea views, ideal for groups and special occasions. Guests appreciate the peaceful setting, proximity to Portpatrick, and large social spaces. While the property is generally clean and well-equipped, some furnishings and mattresses are showing signs of wear, and a few maintenance issues have been noted. Small touches such as additional kitchenware and improved welcome packs would enhance the experience. Overall, it is a comfortable base for exploring the area, with friendly local amenities nearby.
The property is described as clean and tidy on arrival, with fresh bedding. However, some guests noted minor issues such as lack of mattress protectors and occasional maintenance oversights.
The cottage is praised for its lovely views, peaceful setting, and easy access to Portpatrick and local walks, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.
Guests found the house spacious and suitable for groups, but several mentioned old mattresses, worn furniture, and limited seating as areas for improvement.
Facilities such as the hot tub, kitchen, and games room are appreciated, but some maintenance issues (e.g., broken chairs, shower problems, missing bulbs) and a lack of outdoor seating were noted.
A small welcome pack was provided, but guests noted the absence of basics like tea, coffee, and condiments. Please note that gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed and may vary.

Portpatrick is one of the most popular holiday villages on the coast of south west Scotland, with its pretty little harbour, quirky shops, small putting green and of course you can take a trip from the harbour to enjoy a spot of fishing or just a leisure cruise. Walkers are well catered for in Portpatrick with spectacular cliff paths in both directions, where you can follow the path past Dunskey Castle to Knockinaam, or past several secluded bays to Killantringan Lighthouse. The walk from the village to Killantringan is the start of the Southern Upland Way.
The village is a hive of activity throughout the year. Events include the rnli Lifeboat Week, the Music Festival, farmer’s markets, craft fayres and vintage truck rallies. Being on the South West Coastal 300, a stunningly beautiful touring route throughout the whole region, Portpatrick is the perfect base for your holiday. Having explored the area return and enjoy a superb meal and a glass of wine at a nearby restaurant overlooking the water, where you can take advantage of a 10% discount privilege card while staying at Number Nine.

Overall a good cottage but a few things let it down that could easily be rectified & make it worth the money we spent.Number 1 which realy needs sorting is the beds, none have mattress protectors & just a loose sheet so if u move thet come loose & slide off so u end up on bare matress, not what I would expect to be clean from previous & future use?Its a 8 person cottage so lovely & roomy, we were a family of adults. Annoyingly we couldn't all sit at table to eat as only 7 chairs! Most chairs have heavy wear on them & 3 have holes. The table base has been glued together & chip on glass of table which worried me greatly. No simple instructions on how to use cooker, hob, dishwasher, tv unless you got manuals out?!WiFi very poor the log in was different to what was on detail but password matched. In the main bathroom downlights were hanging out of ceiling & no bulbs. The shower held onto rail by cable ties prevented you to move it to correct height & if u had it on full it wobbled side to side! In en-suite bathroom if you used the shower you had to place towels around the tray as the water came over side from the short shower curtain. The 2 chairs on balcony were both broken on sides & threadbare. The games room only one machine worked, we turned on the fruit machine & it made a alarm sound & cut the other game out! Many tiles on the steps in need concreting in place they all move when walking up.Cracks through kitchen tiles where the metal chairs have obviously banged on previous use, just some foot protectors on the feet of chairs would help this? The welcome pack was not realy informative realy could do with what's near by to help visitors? We added a couple bits in that we did from Google searches.Great decor fininishing touches with the clocks but None had battery's in, would have been nice to have 1 clock that worked?!Reaky need a little radio in the kitchen as tv cant be heard up there unless on super high volume. All the curtains in bedroom are dress style so cant be closed properly so be prepared for a bright early start in summer! Not the cottages fault at all but we picked area as it said there was always lots on including life boat week events, turns out that was stopped a couple years ago so not realy anything to do close by unless driving.

nice property. Obviously a well used property for Stag/Hen doos. In need of a bit of an upgrade but still ideal for our needs. Property was spotless on arrival. Could do with a little more garden furniture for bigger groups. Cant really fault it.

Straight forward check in, easy to follow location instructions. Very spacious, great large social spaces in kitchen and lounge. Clean and tidy, nice fresh bedding and well equipped kitchen. Easy walkable acces to Portpatrick and lovely outlooks. Its a shame the house looks tired and in need of a refurbishment. Stains on carpets, old shower, curtains, damaged chairs, mising spotlights and decor dated. It just needs some TLC. Outdoor space needs some more seats to match the size of the house, and the hot tub needs a service as on go slow. But we had a great time.
