About this property

Found in southern Scotland within the charming village of Thornhill, a quiet street away from the centre, is this marvellous semi-detached cottage, Ivy Bank. Built at the turn of the 20th century, this house contains a surprisingly spacious layout making it perfect for a family or group of six. Take in the quaint, stone exterior before heading inside; discover a contemporary style throughout the property with vibrant pops of colour. Enjoy the stylish surroundings of the sitting room sat atop the fabulous, grey corner sofa, opposite the jade-green wall where the woodburning stove can crackle in the background as you watch a film with your loved ones. Terracotta tiles and a long bench dining table help to create a modern take on a farmhouse kitchen/diner, with a large electric range cooker at your fingertips to cook some excellent dishes during your self-catered stay. Find a peaceful retreat within the snug room, whether you want to watch some TV, take an afternoon nap on the long corner sofa, or get lost in a book. Completing the ground floor is the glossy shared bathroom holding a bath with a rainfall shower over offering a sumptuous spot to freshen up in. Get settled into one of the bedrooms and unpack your things, with the pretty twin bedroom with matching bedding being a great choice for the little ones beneath the quirky slanted ceilings. Further along are two double bedrooms, with the master enjoying its own en-suite shower room, along with all benefitting from plenty of storage space for your things. Sit out in your enclosed yard and in the warmer weather make use of the barbecue to have a fantastic summer afternoon, let your canine companion sneak a sausage from the barbecue while you all tuck in at the outdoor seating. Talk a trip in to the village and enjoy a spot of golf or fishing to pass the day. Visit one of Britain's grandest castles, Drumlanrig Castle, offering a chance to see one of the finest examples of 17th century architecture with your own eyes, and marvel at an internationally renowned art collection. Wander along the Nith Valley to discover the area, or take a walk with a difference with Nith Valley Alpacas and travel along with a new furry friend around the grounds of Capenoch Estate. Spend a day trip in Ayr further north on the coast discovering its many attractions like Ayr Beach, 16th century Ayr Racecourse, and the fabulous array of restaurants, cafés and pubs that sit among this riverside town. As well as being close to Galloway Forest Park for a range of outdoor adventures, Ivy Bank is a wonderful touring base for southern Scotland. EPC Rating: Band F

Location was very good and car parking excellent. The only issue we had was with the upstairs bathroom toilet flush which inconsistent.

Super warm and comfortable with everything we needed and more for a lovely week. So peaceful and we love having both the countryside and the amenities all right on the doorstep.
