The small and peaceful village of Twynholm provides an ideal holiday base for exploring the beautiful countryside of Dumfries & Galloway. There are stunning beaches within easy reach at Goat Bay and Brighouse Bay, both not much more than a fifteen minute car drive.

Outdoor activities are available for all abilities including many varied opportunities for walking and cycling, including the popular Forestry Commission 7Stanes Mountain Bike Routes which provide the chance for a different route on each day of the week. Water sports are also well catered for at various locations on the Solway Coast together with Loch Ken and there are numerous opportunities for both sea and river fishing throughout the area.

Scotland's rich history and culture can be enjoyed at many historic sites and gardens throughout the local area. These include the National Trust for Scotland Gardens at Threave, Logan Botanical Gardens at Stranraer and Historic Sites such as Threave Castle all very close to hand. Modern culture should not be forgotten and a trip to the Cocoa Bean Factory, with children's chocolate workshops, is within easy walking distance of cottage.

The village makes an excellent base for a holiday with its local facilities including village pub and hotel together with local shop.
