Pittenweem is a charming fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife. The harbour is the main focus of the village, particularly early each morning when the fishing boats return with their catch and the daily fish market gets underway. Many of the charming houses around the harbour are of traditional Fife design with red pantile or grey-slate roofs with crow-step gables and have been restored by the National Trust for Scotland.
There is seasonal crazy golf near the beautiful refurbished Pittenweem Tidal pool with views towards the Bass Rock and the Isle of May beyond. For those who enjoy cold water swimming, or simply to enjoy the area, there are additional coastal tidal pools nearby in the picturesque villages of St Monans and Cellardyke. Not forgetting, of course, the beautiful beaches of the ever-popular Elie.
Pittenweem itself, also boasts two local pubs (one with takeaway), a popular seafood bistro restaurant with a gallery overlooking the harbour, coffee shops, an ice cream/sweet shop, gift and craft shops, a hardware store, bakers and local pharmacy/licenced grocers and post office. The bustling village of Anstruther is just five minutes drive away where there is a large selection of bars, coffee shops and restaurants.
