The cottage was really lovely, immaculately presented, comfortable and clean with everything we needed, including a very generous welcome pack. Culross is such an interesting place, the Palace is fascinating and the pub serves a wide variety of good value food. Dunfermline is not far away and has a range of shops and the Abbey is well worth a visit. Edinburgh can be reached easily by using the tram from Ingliston P&R which is around a 30 minute drive away. We spent a relaxed morning at RSPB Loch Leven where there are pleasant walks and we spotted red squirrels.

The good points..Downstairs lovely and very comfortable. Both bathrooms great.Lovely welcome basket & well equipped kitchen. The two divan bedrooms at back of house comfortable.Right in the centre if Culross so easy to walk, pub nearby (Red Lion) well worth a visit but advisable to book as very busy. Not so good....(but most fixable)No arrival instructions. Eg re parking No house information eg recycling. Operating heating etc.The front bedroom bedstead not comfortable. No curtains in bedrooms, blind let in lots of light - bring your eye mask.Parking at front & rear tight.Outside area needs a lot of tlc.Be aware there is a public right of way directly past dining/sitting room window and outside area.Property opposite undergoing major refurbishment.

Forget me not cottage is a stunning high quality new build house in a beautiful and historical village in a perfect location for many attractions. The beds and sofa are comfortable with quality bedding and towels which were fresh and clean.High quality appliances and furniture.Unfortunately not enough attention has been paid to the things which make a great holiday let. The cleaning was generally very good but definitely more attention needed in the bathroom, particularly the toilet! The only directions we were given was the key safe number which was irrelevant as the safe had no door and was tricky to locate. The welcome basket was impressive, eggs, wine, cereal, bread, milk, crisps, butter and chocolate, but the bread was out of date the next day and the cereal was half used and out of date a month ago.The washing machine is positioned so it is impossible to open the dispenser drawer for use. There were no instructions for recycling so we googled the local council and the large bin was for general rubbish, unfortunately that was full to the brim with recycling, presumably from previous visitors. The smaller black bin was half full of rubbish and the internal bin had been emptied but was then used to dispose of someone's snacks. There are many beautiful ornaments but as a holiday let it would be nice to have more space to put the things you bring on holiday with you. The bedrooms all had large wardrobes but only small side tables so no drawers for items you do not hang up. The only dressing table was on the landing which was fine if either of the footstools underneath enabled you to sit and see in the mirror. On arrival the WiFi wasn't working which was frustrating as there is no TV aerial so you must stream to use the TV. The owner was very helpful and arranged a temporary solution the next day, then we had two BT engineer visits before the internet was repaired midweek. Of course this wasn't the owner's fault but it is something that a quick check whilst cleaning would have been discovered.Overall a beautiful house which with a few small changes would be one of the best places we have stayed.
