I've always wanted to visit the isle of skye and I was not disappointed, absolutely breathtaking! This house is in the most stunning location, looking out over the Loch. Unfortunately the house is in need of some tlc, and patching up. When we arrived poor Keith (the care taker) was busy trying to tidy up and prepare the place but it seemed the cleaning company put in charge of looking after the place after stays haven't been very efficient, the kitchen cupboards haven't been cleaned in a very long time and I found myself washing all utensils upon arriving (after a 10 hour car journey) so my family weren't using dirty pots etc. The conservatory is the main living room, which leaks (alot) and considering it stops raining for maybe an hour a day is highly concerning considering the conservatory has two electrical outlets that literally come out of the floor! A detail myself and partner found profoundly worrying with two children and two dogs wondering round, the bathroom doesnt haven't running water to the bath tub, so its only showers which seems a shame when you have a lovely size tub just sat there, also the bathroom window is slightly broken so a constant draught can be felt through it. Beds in all the rooms where lovely and comfortable with loads of additional storage and space for clothing. Location is very remote so shopping for food on the way to the location is a must. Also I would say that the garden hasnt been cleaned for a very long time im sure there are years worth of dog excitement located all over, luckily the weather was never any less the rain while we stayed so we didnt need to venture out there, but that garden tidied up and some love put into it could be absolutely stunning. Even with the house not being up to date and things broken it was still a lovely cosy cottage style home, that did the job after a long day out in the wind and rain walking the Scottish highland and beauty spots. I loved it, and would 100% visit again if the house is taken care off, such a lovely property needs to be taken care off. So it doesn't fall into disrepair.

This is a very difficult situation to review. We were “forced” into staying here because of a mess up with our original booking by cottages.com and basically had no where else to go or sleep in our car !Firstly the owner was so kind and accommodating, accepting our booking to stay immediately at 5pm on a Friday evening. Helping us with directions, key codes etc. This property was not for us but may be perfect for someone else depending on your needs. We do not like remote and prefer to be within a community. The cottage had a few others around it, the town was a short drive away but was closed for winter. Everywhere was a car journey whereas we prefer not to use the car and walk everywhere. cottage itself has changed a little compared to the pictures and there are now a lot of steep steps up to the door, having just had knee surgery this caused me a bit of an issue, but again we had booked somewhere without steps ! When windy the noise in the conservatory was overpowering but that was where the TV was. Got the feeling that the cottage was work in progress. The bathroom needed a bit of TLC and the bath taps didn’t work, but shower ok. Kitchen, utility and conservatory just needed a good deep clean. The garden was genuinely secure and enclosed for the dogs. Please don’t discount this property, just make sure it is right for you and your needs.
